Damit ich aber spezifischer werde, werde ich mich hier sowohl mit dem Ideal der romantischen Liebe im Roman, als auch mit den verschiedenen Aspekten und Wechselbeziehungen dieser romantischen Liebe, möglichst ausführlich beschäftigen.
Zunächst einmal, wäre es sehr nützlich, unerlässlich und nötig für die weitere Analyse, dass wir uns die Figur von Friedrich Schlegel und seinen Roman ,,Lucinde” kurz anschauen. Friedrich Schlegel ( 1772-1829) war schon 1790 nach Jena, die “Residenz der romantischen Schule”1 gezogen und versuchte einen Lehrstuhl an der Universität zu erhalten. Friedrich, wie auch sein Bruder August Wilhelm Schlegel war Philologe, Literaturkritiker, Kunsthistoriker und Publizist. Im Juli 1797 war Friedrich Schlegel von Jena nach Berlin gekommen und rund einen Monat nach seiner Ankunft “ lernte er im Salon der Henriette Herz, wo ihn J.F. Reichardt eingeführt hatte, seine künftige Frau kennen: Dorothea Veit, die älteste Tochter Moses Mendelssohns. Schlegel war damals fünfundzwanzig, Dorothea sieben Jahre älter. Dorothea war als neunzehnjähriges Mädchen dem Bankier Simon Veit, der dem Hause Mendelsohn befreundet war, zur Frau gegeben worden, und zwar nach damaliger Sitte, ohne dass sie um ihre Neigung befragt worden war.’’ 2 Als Dorothea ein Jahr später Friedrich traf, war sie sehr verzweifelt wegen ihrer unglücklichen Ehe und schien sehr begeistert von diesem geistreichen, äußerlich anziehenden, tatenfreudigen und zukunftssicherem jungen Mann. Friedrich, seinerseits, fand in dieser reifen Frau “die Mischung und Verschmelzung von Freundschaft, schönem Umgang, geistiger Einfühlung und sinnlicher Leidenschaft, die er, mit einem Sprachgebrauch, der sich bei näherem Zusehen durchaus nicht als trivial erweist, Liebe nannte.”3
