Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Informatik - Wirtschaftsinformatik, Note: 1,0, Verwaltungs- und Wirtschafts-Akademie Wiesbaden e.V., Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Jahre 105 n. Chr. beginnt die Geschichte des Papiers. Ein chinesischer Hofbeamter namens Tsai Lun ist die erste Person, die einen Prozess zur Papierherstellung beschreibt. Um 751 n. Chr. wird die Vorgehensweise zur Papierherstellung durch chinesische Kriegsgefangene eines arabischen Heeres nach Europa gebracht. Die Papierherstellung wird mehr und mehr industrialisiert. Gutenbergs Erfindung des Buchdruckes verleiht dem Medium weiteren Auftrieb.
Im Jahre 1950 wurden in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland 656.000 Tonnen an grafischen Papieren, das sind Druck- und Schreibpapiere, verbraucht. 2011 liegt dieser Wert bei 8.704.000 Tonnen. Auch wenn dieser Wert in den letzten 10 Jahren leicht rückläufig ist, wird davon ausgegangen, dass der weltweite Bedarf an Papier jährlich um etwa 3% steigt.
Zweifellos ist Papier ein bewährtes und einfaches Medium zur Informationsspeicherung und –bearbeitung, aber es fällt häufig schwer, diese Informationen effizient zu archivieren und strukturieren.
Über 1800 Jahre nach Beginn der Papierverbreitung veranlasst dieser Umstand den Physiker und Raketenkonstrukteur Wernher von Braun zu der Aussage, die dieser Diplomarbeit als Leitzitat voransteht: „Bei der Eroberung des Weltraums sind zwei Probleme zu lösen: Die Schwerkraft und der Papierkrieg. Mit der Schwerkraft wären wir fertig geworden.“ [...]
