Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,3, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Philosophisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Neuere Deutsche Literatur II, 8 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Friedrich Schillers Werk Der Taucher entstand in einem relativ kurzen Zeitraum zwischen dem 5. und 15. Juni 1797 und erschien im Jahr darauf erstmalig im Musenalmanach, welches von Schiller selbst herausgegeben wurde. Dieses Sammelwerk enthielt verschiedene Werke Schillers und Goethes, unter diesen auch Der Handschuh, welcher in engem Zusammenhang mit dem Taucher steht.
Goethe bezeichnete die Ballade als „wirklich ein artiges Nach- und Gegenstück [zum Taucher]“ .
Zum Motiv der Ballade gibt es eine Vielzahl von Überlieferungen zwischen dem 14. und 17. Jahrhundert, wodurch die Frage nach der Quelle verschiedene Schlüsse zulässt. Die Handlung kommt aber sehr nahe an die Historia de Pescecola Urimatore Siculo (Geschichte vom sizilianischen Taucher Pescecola) in Athanasii Kircheri mundus subterraneus (Athanasius Kirchers unterirdische Welt) aus dem Jahr 1651. Diese Geschichte handelt von einem sizilianischen Berufstaucher aus der Zeit des Königs Friedrich und scheint in diesem Fall motivgeschichtlich zentral zu sein.
Diverse wissenschaftliche Ausgaben befassen sich mit den Werken Schillers. Als Basis dieser Hausarbeit soll die Frankfurter Ausgabe dienen.
Zu Beginn der Arbeit steht der Nachweis einer Einordnung als Ballade anhand des Textes und seiner literaturgattungsspezifischen Merkmale. Weiterhin soll der enge Bezug zum eben genannten Handschuh näher beleuchtet werden. Im Anschluss folgt eine eingehende formale und inhaltliche Interpretation des Textes. Dabei soll auf drei wesentliche Aufsätze zum Thema Bezug genommen werden.
Im Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung soll die Entwicklung der Persönlichkeit des Knappen im Verlauf der Geschichte stehen. Des Weiteren wird untersucht, ob er selbst oder der König die Schuld an seinem Schicksal trägt.
