Da flieht Wibald, der Mönch, um den Kaiser zu warnen, und auf vielen Irrwegen und verschlungenen Pfaden muss er wandeln, ehe er den Kaiser erreicht. Und unversehens sieht er sich in ein Intrigenspiel versetzt. Wird Friedrich Barbarossa ihm schließlich doch noch Glauben schenken? Es wird sich zeigen ... Es wird sich auch zeigen, wie es um Wibalds Liebe zu der schönen und faszinierenden Alda bestellt ist. Werden der entlaufene Mönch und das weithin bekannte Gauklermädchen vielleicht gar für immer zueinander finden?
Wie auch immer, ein spannender Roman mit einem historischen Hintergrund - wobei mit der Historie durchaus gespielt wird.
