Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 3,0, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Institut für Philologie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Dass Thomas Manns Roman Doktor Faustus in einer gewissen Art und Weise vom Teufel handelt, sagt schon der Titel, der an eine alte Volkssage von einem Teufelspakt anspielt. Doch dieser Roman birgt noch mehr in sich. Er erzählt nicht nur das Leben des Künstlers Adrian Leverkühn, sondern auch die Geschichte der Musik und der Deutschen. Thomas Manns Umsetzung dessen, sowie die unterschwellige Implikation des Dämonischen, möchte ich auf den folgenden Seiten darlegen. Beginnend mit den Vorbildern des Helden, Faust und Nietzsche, werde ich dann zu der zweiten Hauptfigur Serenus Zeitblom kommen und im Hinblick auf seinen Freund darzustellen versuchen, inwieweit der Humanist und Katholik Zeitblom ebenfalls dämonische Züge an sich trägt. Weiter geht es dann mit Thomas Manns Geschichtsphilosophie, wie er diese im Roman eingebracht hat und vor allem wie so der Eindruck des Dämonischen noch verstärkt wird. Im 5. Kapitel wende ich mich dann der Gestalt des Teufels zu und wie sie im Roman dargestellt wird. Zuletzt widme ich mich noch Christiane Pritzlaffs Studie zur Zahlenmystik im Roman. Ziel meiner Arbeit soll ein Überblick über die verschiedenen Darstellungsweisen des Dämonischen sein.
